Check Out Prabal Gurung’S New Lower-Price Collection for ICB by Rebeccahasimin (submitted 2012-08-25)

The wait of admirers of the Nepalese-American designer Prabal Gurung is over. The designer's latest project is his first collection for ICB, the newly relaunched Japanese high street fashion brand. A little known fact about Prabal Gurung is that he was born in Singapore. He was announced as ICB's latest designer last year with a view to revive the Japanese brand in Europe and the US. ICB stopped operating outside the Asia in 2002 because of flailing sales; although, ex-designers of the brand include some of the prominent names such as Michael Kors and Viktor + Rolf. Gurung's maiden collection for ICB will be the upcoming Fall Winter 2012 line and will hit stores by the end of this month. There is already huge hype surrounding the debut collection. The collection features diffused inkblot prints in rainbow hues on silk dresses along with highlighter bright pinks, oranges and yellows on heavy wool coats and jackets.

The sculptural skirts, dresses and sweaters are unmistakably Gurung, as are the prints and pops of color such as chartreuse and interesting details in the form of dip-dying and laser cutting. The clothes are far more casual as compared to the ultra-luxurious evening wear that you find in one of the main collections of Prabal Gurung. This latest collection is affordable and wearable, something which a lot of people will want. Beyond the electric offering though, the element of cool-girl is woven deep throughout the collection. The collection features black shredded knits, zippered leather vests, skirts and dresses along with the puffed up bomber jackets and crisp panelled tuxedo suits.

Even prettier are Gurung's ombre spray-painted lace patterns in different shades of red and pink, and also black, particularly notable on a white silk chiffon button down shirt and on a collared shirt and sheer skirt hybrid, which flows delicately around your legs. The designer says that the inspiration of the collection came from women in the workforce, the combination of intelligence, beauty and a little sense of humor, and this is what the ICB girl is all about.

This collection marks the relaunch of the ICB collection. This collection has not been sold in the US in more than a decade but now will be reintroduced to women in the US with a new ad campaign that features models Laura Kampman and Katryn Kruger, photographed by Sebastian Kim. It will break in the September issue of Vogue, and a large distribution will follow in Asia and Japan. About the Author
